PIREP - Stark Avionics

Numerous person, I appreciate pireps from those of you with exposure to shops you utilize (positive or negative) and like to spread my experience for the contemplation on others also. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I ran across myself searching for an alternate avenue for the installation of a new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The expense of one was so high that we actually busted out laughing on the phone as though I were at the comedy bar. He was apparently significantly less amused when i. I was telling the story of my local quote with a friend on the airport and the man recommended that I call John Stark at Stark Avionics for a quote. In doing my research prior to calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps on the shop. In the process, I ran across an absolutely terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you need to learn it). This pirep caused me serious worry about if you should call Stark for a quote.

I posted a general query for suggestions about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and i also spoke regarding his experience with Stark i decided to give John an appointment in line with the two recommendations I caused by trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns concerning the negative pirep on MS it comes with I had been gun shy based on the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to every single story and John took his time for it to explain his side if you ask me like me certain he can be willing to employ other people who want to phone him and need rest. Our conversation shifted from the pirep to pricing. John and I discussed different equipment options, what can be perfect for my needs/wants along with the predetermined fee installed price for each option. We ultimately chose to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was beforehand the number might be slightly higher when the tray was riveted in (as many Mooneys are). I went to the airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were that come with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a really timely manner and confirmed the flat fee price for the equipment and install in some recoverable format so we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane was to be delivered the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he would have everything else but ready by Tuesday, but I opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in the event there was some snags along the way.
